Faces of the Civil War: FREE Open House
Faces of the Civil War: FREE Open House Sept. 1, 8, 15 & 16 from 5-8 pm The Barker Mansion is proud to host a traveling exhibit sponsored by the Indiana Historical Society. The exhibit brings to life the stories of many Hoosiers whose lives were touched, and in some cases taken, by the Civil War. Rather than focusing on statistics and large scale battles, the exhibit illustrates how regular people coped with the tragic experiences of the day—all from an Indiana perspective. The free exhibit is housed in the mansion’s basement level and requires climbing stairs. Note that the mansion will not be open for tours this evening; all activity will be focused in the downstairs exhibit space Admission is free. Consider purchasing tickets for the supplemental city walking tour titled "Footsteps of 1865". Tickets are for sale on Eventbrite or by calling 219-873-1520. Dates are September 8, 15, and 16 at 6 pm.
