Every year the Chicago Public Library Foundation picks a central theme to explore in the one book, one Chicago program, from October through April with tours, art exhibits, discussions, music performances, and more to bring people together to engage in the theme. This year's theme is "Music: the Beat of our City", and the book of the year is "I'll Take you There: Mavis Staples, the Staples Singers, and the Music that Shaped the Civil Rights Era", by Greg Kot. There will be a discussion of the book, 6:30pm Tuesday evening at West Belmont Library, 3104 N Narragansett Ave.
