More Info

Lollapalooza: Lollapalooza is an American music festival featuring alternative rock, hip hop, and punk rock bands, dance and comedy performances, and craft booths. It has also provided a platform for non-profit and political groups. Lollapalooza has featured a diverse range of bands and has helped expose and popularize alternative groups such as Nine Inch Nails, The Smashing Pumpkins, and Hole.

Conceived and created in 1991 by Jane's Addiction singer Perry Farrell as a farewell tour for his band, Lollapalooza ran annually until 1997, and was revived in 2003. From its inception through 1997, and its revival in 2003, the festival toured North America. In 2004, the festival organizers decided to expand the dates to two days per city, however poor ticket sales forced the 2004 tour to be cancelled. In 2005, Farrell and the William Morris Agency partnered up with Austin, Texas-based company Capital Sports Entertainment and retooled it into its current format as a weekend destination festival in Grant Park, Chicago, Illinois.

Capital Cities: Capital Cities is an American pop duo from Los Angeles, California, formed in 2010 by Ryan Merchant (vocals, keyboard, guitar) and Sebu Simonian (vocals, keyboard). Their debut EP was released on June 7, 2011, with lead single "Safe and Sound" which became their first top ten hit single.

Cage The Elephant: Music lovers that haven't heard of Cage the Elephant have probably heard their hit single "Ain't No Rest for the Wicked" on the radio or TV. Those same lovers are probably also missing out on Cage the Elephant's amazing concert dates. This Kentucky band is a group up-and-coming stars who are bringing a much needed kick to mainstream music through their folksy yet rocking beats and frenzied tour dates. Their style is a unique blend of bluegrass, punk, and rock that has been garnering attention from both fans and critics. For those people who have heard and enjoyed "Ain't No Rest for the Wicked", there's good news in the form of tour dates for 2011.

Cage the Elephant was formed by brothers Matthew and Brad Schultz in 2006. Their sound was almost immediately a hit and gained the band a concert date at the 2007 Lollapalooza, immediately following Lady Gaga's breakout performance at the festival. It wasn't until they played at the South By Southwest Festival that Cage the Elephant were signed to UK record label Relentless Records, eventually relocating there. Their debut eponymous album was released in June of 2008 in the UK and almost a year later in the US to positive reviews. Shortly after, the single "Ain't No Rest for the Wicked" began to circulate as a hit single and the band began to play concert dates with a number of UK and US bands, including The Pigeon Detectives and Manchester Orchestra. Cage the Elephant returned to play a tour date at Lollapalooza in 2009 as well as playing the Outside Lands Festival in San Francisco and Bonnaroo in Tennessee.

Cage the Elephant's new album, Thank You Happy Birthday, was released in January of 2011 and has prompted the current 2011 tour dates with superstars The Black Keys. The two bands share a similar bluegrass sound, as well as the energy they both expend on stage. The concert dates will kick off in Cage the Elephant's home away from home of London on March 23, with tour dates in 2011 extending into July. Part of Cage the Elephant's meteoric rise to fame is due to their energetic tour dates, where the band's members visibly play like it's their last night on Earth. While Cage the Elephant won't be opening for The Black Keys on every tour date in 2011, the shows with The Black Keys are selling out fast, so buy tickets soon.

Wiz Khalifa: Rap's newest prodigy has produced three top twenty Billboard Hot Rap tracks over the past few years and has recorded dozens of collaborations with hip-hop royalty. However, it was with his single "Black and Yellow," an homage to his hometown of Pittsburgh, that Wiz Khalifah became a rap heavyweight. Since that time, the rapper has continued to chart success with each song released and become one of the genre's biggest stars.

Wiz Khalifa, whose real name is Cameron Jibril Thomas, was born into a military family that travelled around until finally settling in Pittsburgh. His stage name refers to his ability to be a "whiz" at everything he does and Khalifa means "successor" in Arabic. The rapper broke onto Billboard's Hot Rap tracks with "Say Yeah," in 2007 which peaked at #20. His 2010 single, "Black and Yellow", hit #1 on Billboard's Hot 100 and Hot Rap track surveys and sold over 2.3 million digital copies. It was just a precursor to the album, Rolling Papers, released March 29, 2011 and featuring the hits, "Black and Yellow," and the singles "On My Level" and "Roll Up," both of which charted on the US Hot 100 survey.

The momentum didn't stop when Wiz released his second album, O.N.I.F.C. in 2012. Once again, his album shot to second on the Billboard 200, and the single "Work Hard, Play Hard" went double platinum. After the album's release, Khalifa took time off with his new wife, Amber Rose, and their newborn son. However, less than a year later, he was back in the studio working on his latest album, Blacc Hollywood, and cementing his status as one of the leading rappers in the US.

A-Trak: “In the decade since he won the 1997 DMC World DJ Championship at a prodigious 15 years of age, A-Trak has turned the art of turntablism back toward its original party-rocking focus – the dude can scratch and beat-juggle, but he’s just as skilled at maintaining momentum and crafting seamless segues. ” – Pitchfork Very few DJs can jump from club sets to high-profile festival performances, to Kanye West’s larger-than-life stadium shows with ease. In today’s DJ culture, A-Trak holds a truly unique place. He and partner Nick Catchdubs founded America’s most trendsetting new label, Fool’s Gold, launching the careers of artists such as Kid Sister and Kid Cudi. Fool’s Gold’s mission to merge all aspects of club music was already outlined in Trizzy’s original mixtape manifesto, Dirty South Dance, which set the tone for his own production. He is now one of the most sought-after remixers in electronic music, and his remixes for the likes of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Boys Noize have become undeniable mainstays in DJ sets the world over. 2009 saw the release of two critically acclaimed DJ mixes, Infinity +1 and Fabriclive 45, as well as the birth of Duck Sauce, his collaboration with Armand Van Helden. The duo’s radio smash “aNYway” cemented itself as the dance anthem of the year, A-Trak’s first true chart-topper with two videos in international rotation and across-the-board support from Pete Tong to Busy P, David Guetta to 2manydjs. Duck Sauce’s 2010 follow up “Barbra Streisand” was even bigger, a whistling pop sensation that accumulated over 60 million YouTube views of its star-studded video while hitting platinum heights around the globe. They even covered it on X-Factor and Glee!

Not bad for a kid whom many viewed as a 90’s turntablism prodigy. After taking home every DJ title known to man before he could shave, A-Trak toured the world, first alongside Q-Bert’s Invisibl Skratch Piklz and then with Craze and the Allies. In 2004, he was hand-picked by Kanye to be his tour DJ. A near decade of youthful meanderings was captured on his acclaimed DVD Sunglasses Is A Must.

Somewhere along the line, A-Trak also became a new-school sartorial icon, collaborating with Nike, New Era, Kidrobot, Zoo York and pretty much every designer worth his salt. And all the while, his brother morphed into the lead singing lothario in the acclaimed electro-pop sensation Chromeo. The last couple of years have seen Trizzy headlining tours and festival stages the world over. Add to that scratching on Common’s classic Be, Kanye’s Late Registration and Graduation, Kid Cudi’s Man On The Moon and Drake’s Thank Me Later, as well as producing Kid Sister’s debut album Ultraviolet, collaborations with the likes of Lupe Fiasco and Laidback Luke, and original releases with Stones Throw and Kitsune.

After years of schlepping vinyl, accumulating air miles and dressing smart, A-Trak has finally become the man to call to make the kids dance. Ask him and he’ll tell you that this is the moment he’s been waiting for his whole career.

Lorde: The young New Zealand artist whose real name Ella Marija Lani Yelich-O'Connor was signed to a record label before she was in high school. Her first EP, The Love Club featured the now infamous hit single "Royals" made her the first New Zealand solo artist to have a #1 song in the US. Her debut album, Pure Heroine was released a year later in 2013, and received an enormous amount of praise from critics, as well as two Grammy Awards. Not only has her record garnered acclaim, but she has been praised for her vocals and stage presence at live shows.

Jon Bellion: Though he doesn't even have a proper album released, Jon Bellion is steadily climbing the ladder to fame. Bellion became an industry name when he wrote the chorus for Eminem and Rhianna's "The Monster". His mixtapes have been good enough to get him a national tour, and his feature on Zedd's track "Beautiful Now" was his first step to his first studio album.

The Drums: The Drums are Indie-pop perfection and are about to become huge stars when their sophomore album, Portamento, drops in September, 2011. The Drums tour dates have been scheduled internationally throughout 2011. Don't miss a date on The Drums concert schedule (2011); Use Eventful as your source for The Drums tour dates and venue information.

Fresh from the cultural haven of Brooklyn, New York; The Drums were founded in 2006 by childhood friends Jonathan Pierce and Jacob Graham. The Drums booked performances in the NYC metro area before inking a deal with Island Records. They released their self-titled debut album in 2010 and were an immediate hit in the United Kingdom. They placed fifth on the annual BBC Sound of 2010 and were voted by Pitchfork Media as "The Best Hope For 2010". The Drums tour dates were scheduled on the UK-wide 2010 NME Award Tour with Bombay Bicycle club and they landed the opening spot for the Kings of Leon concert in London.

Since making waves in 2010, The Drums reentered the studio and are putting the final touches on their sophomore album. The set will be entitled, Portamento, and will be released in September, 2011. The first single, "Money", has hit the airwaves and the band will be on tour to promote the upcoming disc throughout 2011. Stay on top of The Drums tour dates and use Eventful as your concert calendar.

Spoon: With a history of stellar, no-filler records, Spoon has somehow topped themselves with Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga, a consistently thrilling album recorded throughout 2006 in Austin by the band and Mike McCarthy (except "The Underdog," recorded in Los Angeles with Jon Brion). Spoon have been together over a decade, with one of the most unusual trajectories of any band in recent memory-and one of the best and most unique songwriters in the world. Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga starts with "Don't Make Me a Target," a song that builds on Spoon's familiar minimal rhythmic piano/guitar vamp popularized on earlier Spoon hits like "Small Stakes" or "The Way We Get By." The album quickly moves into uncharted territory with the atmospheric "The Ghost of You Lingers" and moves through serveral different stylistic changes from the explosive (no pun intended) "You Got Yr. Cherry Bomb" to the wall-of-sound horns of "The Underdog." The Britt Daniel originals on Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga comprise possibly his most heartfelt batch of songs since 2001's Girls Can Tell.

It's worth pointing out that Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga is comprised of ten songs (see Loaded, Fulfillingness' First Finale, Back in Black, The Queen Is Dead, The Charm of the Highway Strip, Nebraska, Nashville Skyline, Heroes, Unknown Pleasures, The Violent Femmes, The Woods, Sticky Fingers, etc.). We've also got it on good authority that 36 minutes is the ideal album length.

Muse: In the late 90's, few English alternative rock bands struggled as hard to emerge from the shadow of Radiohead as Muse. Despite an initial similarity in sound, the members of Muse have made a name for themselves in the music world with their unique blending of musical styles and elaborate tour dates. While more of a recent development, Muse's concert dates in 2011 have featured incredible moving stages, intense lighting effects, and visually striking instruments. Their signature sound has sold well over ten million albums worldwide and garnered them heaps of awards and critical acclaim. In recent years, Muse has also become known for their innovative and elaborate live performances, including a few remaining concert dates in 2011.

Muse began in Teignmouth, Devon, under the name Gothic Plague. The band was started by drummer Dominic Howard while attending Teignmouth Community College in the early 90s. However, after Bellamy suggested moving from a cover band to an original one, Howard, Chris Wolstenholme, and Matthew Bellamy were all that remained. After winning a local battle of the bands, the trio quit school and their jobs, moved to London, and changed the band name to Muse. Muse's 1999 EP, Muscle Museum, became a hit with the title track reaching #3 on the indie singles charts and experiencing rotation on the radio. Despite playing tour dates throughout the UK, Muse's lack of success prompted them to move to the US.

Shortly after, Muse signed with Maverick Records and recorded their first full-length album, Showbiz, later in 1999. The album's theme revolved around Muse's struggle to achieve commercial success and featured a softer style than what the band would become known for. Muse drastically changed their style on their next album, Origin of Symmetry, which was originally released in 2001. The album features a more experimental sound achieved with an expanded drum kit and mellotron, as well as Bellamy's signature falsetto voice. The success of the album prompted a number of headlining and supporting tour dates, which began a habit of continuously playing concert dates. Muse saw their success grow even more with the release of Absolution in 2003. While comparisons with Radiohead were still common, critics praised the album and its sound regardless of any musical similarities. Muse experienced similar success with their 2006 album, Black Holes and Revelations, despite the risky experimentation with style on the album.

Muse's latest album, Resistance, was released in 2009 to resoundingly positive reviews. It became the group's third #1 album in the UK and reached #3 on the Billboard 200, it's highest charting in the United States. The album also won Muse their first Grammy Award for Best Rock Album. After taking a break from extended tour dates, Muse has hinted at a new album for late 2011. The band also has a few scheduled concert dates left for 2011, including tour dates at a number of music festivals around the world. After playing the LA Rising concert date with Rage Against the Machine on July 30, Muse will play tour dates at Kanrocksas in Kansas City and the Outside Lands Festival in San Francisco on August 13. Muse is set to end their 2011 concert dates at the Reading and Leeds Festivals, where they will play the entire album, Origin of Symmetry, in honor of its 10th anniversary.
