Authors Group Presents Alyssa Mastromonaco
If your funny older sister were the former deputy chief of staff to President Barack Obama, her behind-the-scenes political memoir would look something like this. Who Thought This Was a Good Idea? is an intimate and admiring portrait of a president, a candid book of advice for young women, and a promising debut from a savvy political star. Alyssa Mastromonaco served as Assistant to the President and Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations at the White House from 2011-2014 and as Assistant to the President and Director of Scheduling and Advance at the White House from 2009-2011. She worked on Pres. Obama’s Senate campaign and on Sec. Kerry’s presidential campaign in 2004. Ms. Mastromonaco is now the Chief Operating Officer at VICE Media in Williamsburg, NY. She serves on the Board of Trustees for the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. She is on the Board of Director for HeadCount.org, Board of Visitors for the University of Wisconsin Political Science Department and the board of the University of Vermont Honors College. She is also a contributing editor at Marie Claire. Ms. Mastromonaco received a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Wisconsin, Madison in 1998. The event begins with an 11:30am reception, followed by lunch and the program at noon. The price is $42 per person inclusive and cancellations cannot be accepted after Friday, March 31.
